Healthy Hotels While in the past gyms and spas have been positioned as amenities, they are now becoming an integral part of most hotels, as more chains re-brand around the theme of wellness.
The Mindfulness Massage Offering a profound experience, this massage will use breathwork and techniques, such as body scans, to bring attention to every part of the body. Akin to a two-way symphony, the treatment will be directed by a therapist who understands mindfulness and can guide guests to a more mindful experience.
Earthing This movement promotes direct contact with the earth’s electron-rich surface, such as walking barefoot. The idea is that “grounding” the body to the earth’s surface helps stabilize natural electrical rhythms.
Spa-Genomics…Telomeres and Beyond The industry is poised to benefit from genomic testing, which can pinpoint conditions that can be affected by various lifestyle changes. Telomeres, the only malleable parts of DNA, hold special promise, as studies show they can be repaired by exercise, sleep, meditation, and reducing stress.
Authentic Ayurveda and Other Ancient Revivals Expect traditional treatments to stay true to their roots and be executed at spas that feature an ancient look, feel, and language.
Color Self-Expression Color will be front and center when it comes to self-expression, be it in terms of hair color, lashes, body art, and more.
Inclusive Wellness People will continue to look to spas to heal and keep their bodies functional, including those with special needs.
Label-Conscious Fitness Products and programs will continue to be recognized by their labels in an oversaturated market. Yogalates, Piloxing, and CrossFit are all part of the latest fitness craze, which can be likened to the obsession for the newest luxury.
Men: From Barbers to “Brotox” An increasing number of men will opt for more serious treatments at medical spas and plastic surgery offices, such as injectables and more.
Where the Jobs Are The job-rich spa and wellness arena will continue to grow as the industry seeks to fill spa management and therapist positions.
